This course looks at the politics and mechanics of budgeting, outlines the problems and inefficiencies inherent in the budget process, and suggests some solutions. The final section is dedicated to streamlining the whole budget process and looks at many areas including only making people responsible for areas they can truly control along with the use of IT such as spreadsheets and more advanced budget software.

This course is suitable for accountants in private practice, advising clients on their budgeting and is also suitable for accountants working in a commercial environment. This course presents a good introduction to the whole budget process, but also includes several ideas and issues that will be of interest to those that are more experienced in this area.

About the Presenter

Darren has over twenty years of experience in the profession. He was with Grant Thornton LLP for several years and then became a Technical Manager with Macintyre Hudson LLP. He is now a freelance lecturer, author and independent audit file reviewer. He has lectured for many top organisations such as CCH, ICAS, Mercia and Macintyre Advisory Services. He has extensive experience in many specialist areas such as pension schemes, charities and solicitor audits.
